Having been seen by over 10 million people across 5 continents and collecting over 80 awards along the way, Billy Elliot the Musical has embarked on its first ever UK and Ireland tour, opening at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in February 2016.
In 2005, Billy Elliot made the transition from screen to stage when the London production of Billy Elliot the Musical opened to astounding critical and popular acclaim. International success soon followed when the first Australian production opened in December 2007, followed by a production in Melbourne in 2008. Also in 2008, the show opened to enormous success on Broadway, winning a whole new set of fans and numerous accolades including ten 2009 Tony Awards. Productions soon followed in Chicago (2010) and Toronto (2011), while the North American touring production, which played to cities across the US and Canada starting in 2010, finished its spectacular run with an engagement in São Paulo in 2013, the first time Billy Elliot played in South America. Seoul saw the first foreign language production in 2010, followed by the first Dutch production which is currently playing at the Circustheater in The Hague.
Brought to life by the award-winning team behind the movie, Lee Hall (book and lyrics), Stephen Daldry (direction) and Peter Darling (choreography), joined by the legendary Elton John (music), Billy Elliot is an extraordinary theatrical experience that has captivated audiences around the world. After 11 exhilarating years on stage, we are delighted to finally bring Billy Elliot to theatres across the UK and in Ireland.
