Paul is delighted to have received a Tony Award, an Olivier Award, a Drama Desk Award and a BroadwayWorld.com Fans’ Choice Award for the sound design of Billy Elliot the Musical. He is a member of the original Billy creative team from 2004, and has been responsible for the sound design for several productions of Billy in Australia and the USA, as well as this one in London.
Recent work includes: Sam Mendes’ productions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and King Lear at the National Theatre; Rupert Goold’s productions of American Psycho, and King Charles III at the Almeida; Susan Stroman’s production of The Scottsboro Boys at the Young Vic; Rufus Norris’s productions of Dr Dee at the English National Opera, Feast at the Young Vic, and London Road at the National Theatre; Stephen Daldry’s productions of The Audience, and Skylight at the Gielgud Theatre; Nicholas Hytner’s productions of One Man Two Guvnors, and Collaborators at the National Theatre. Other theatre includes Jumpy and In The Republic of Happiness at the Royal Court; Three Sisters and The Changeling at the Young Vic; Edward II at the National Theatre, and The Pet Shop Boys’ ballet The Most Incredible Thing at Sadler’s Wells.
Other awards include: an Olivier Award for Saint Joan at the NT, a Drama Desk Award for The Pillowman on Broadway, and an Evening Standard Award for Festen in the West End. Paul was also nominated for Tony Awards for One Man Two Guvnors and Mary Stuart. Paul is a founder member of the Association of Sound Designers.
